Community Event: Banned Book Reading & Book Swap

Join Under the Umbrella Bookstore and Damn These Heels for a Banned Books Reading & Book Swap! Bring your favorite banned book, share your favorite 2-minute passage during our open mic (keep it PG-13, please!), and swap your banned book for another! After the open mic, attendees will be encouraged to swap their banned books with other attendees. This will be a casual self-directed swap for participants. Under the Umbrella will be on hand to sell banned books, with a small selection of free banned books available for swapping, and resources on book bans and how to fight them. Under the Umbrella is a queer little bookstore on Ute, Goshute, Shoshone, and Paiute land (Salt Lake City, Utah), sharing and celebrating queer books written by queer authors and offering a safe, sober, and accessible space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to gather.
