Sediments

Sneak Preview Screening

Authentic trans storytelling is something our community desperately needs and we are proud to present Sediments, which elegantly fits the bill. This Spanish documentary features six trans women boldly living their lives and follows them on a road trip to the small, historic town of Leon. Going about their days and enjoying the holiday weekend, the women spend time together and get to know each other, and through coffee chats, dance parties, wine, and adventures in nature, we begin to understand the women, their unique differences, and their distinct viewpoints on the world.

With very intimate detail, Sediments spends time with each of the women and at its core is a story about empathy, individuality, and the need to belong. The cinematography is quiet but inviting and the fly-on-the-wall directorial style allows us to see into a world that is divinely beautiful but also quite ordinary. So often in trans storytelling, we expect camp, objectification, or even violence — but this documentary is a tender tale of how the world can be kind and welcoming to outsiders.
